Factory Boss at Cannes Film Market 2015

The Chinese feature film FACTORY BOSS by independent Chinese filmmaker ZHANG WEI will screen at the upcoming 2015 Marche du Film in Cannes.

About ZHANG WEI

Zhang studied directing at the Beijing Film Academy as well as cinema at the Institute of Research of Chinese Arts. He directed his first feature film,Shadow, in 2011, then in 2013 Factory Boss. His third feature, Xi He, is currently in post-production. Born in Hunan province in 1965, Zhang is an entrepreneur with a passion in art and cinema.

 

About FACTORY BOSS

For 20 years, Lin Dalin has successfully run a toy manufacturing business in Shenzhen, fighting tirelessly to succeed int he international marketplace. Now the economic forces China to lose its once-impressive manufacturing industry to cheaper Southeast Asian countries. Lin’s factory suffers from the effects of little work coming in to feed the assembly lines while corners are cut on the factory’s safety issues. Desperate to avoid bankruptcy, and being hard pressed from all sides, Lin weighs the risk of workers’ strike against the loss of a big order…the confrontation that results will bring the entire industry to the brink of collapse.

 

FACTORY BOSS’ screening at Marche du Film will take place as follows:
